This is the age where children slowly begin forming their identity.
They start comparing themselves with others.
They become sensitive to criticism.
They begin seeking validation from parents, teachers, and peers.
This stage is extremely delicate.
A child may not openly say:
“I need you.”
But internally they are still asking:
“Am I enough?”
Children between 6 to 12 years need:
- Encouragement without pressure
- Healthy boundaries with empathy
- Emotional listening
- Confidence building
- Guidance instead of control
- A safe space to express emotions
This is also the age where:
- Screen addiction begins increasing
- Emotional shutdown starts silently
- Fear of failure develops
- Parent-child communication begins weakening if not consciously nurtured
When parents become emotionally available during this stage, children develop resilience, emotional intelligence, and self-trust.
